Has the TV licence had its day?
Free market thinktank the Adam Smith Institute has called for the TV licence fee to be scrapped, arguing that a BBC subscription model would be better for the industry and avoid criminalising poorer people. Is this the best way forward?

Perhaps the core News (not comment) should be preserved under central funding, but the rest of the BBC's output is so woeful, I'm doubtful it would survive in a competitive world.
Certainly all those bloated salaries & duplicated job functions would have to go, ha ha.
I'm an age where near all information can be provided by a combination of surplus news sources online making it easy to cross check against other sources even BBC news is unnecessary; look at Sky, Bllomberg, CNN, Reuters etc...
